An Unforgettable Two Days in Gordes

Caroline and Ezer chose one of the most breathtaking villages in all of France to celebrate their love.

Gordes needs no introduction. Perched dramatically above the Luberon valley, its ancient limestone facades rising in tiers toward an impossibly blue Provençal sky, it is the kind of place that stops you in your tracks, that makes you feel, instinctively, that something significant is about to happen. And yet, from the very first moment I met Caroline and Ezer, I knew that the setting, magnificent as it was, would always play second role to them. There is something about this couple that is simply impossible to ignore, a warmth, a joy, an effortless connection that radiates in every frame. Gordes was the perfect stage. But Caroline and Ezer were always the story.

La Bastide de Pierres : An Evening Rooted in the Soul of Gordes

There are places that need no embellishment, where the setting itself becomes the décor and the atmosphere arrives fully formed. La Bastide de Pierres, nestled on the central square of Gordes’ historic village, is precisely such a place. With its blush-pink façade, sage-green shutters and bold red signage, it carries the kind of character that only decades of Provençal village life can bestow. It was here, on the eve of their wedding, that Caroline and Ezer chose to gather their most beloved people for a first night of celebration.

Guests arrived as the afternoon light turned amber, greeted by ivy cascading over the terrace awning, mismatched vintage chairs, lanterns swaying gently in the warm air, and an old cream Vespa parked out front that completed the scene with the nonchalant charm of a film set. Table settings struck that rare balance between effortless and considered: mismatched vintage plates, crystal glassware, yellow calla lilies in slender vases, and oval gold-lettered table cards nestled in brass stands. A magnificent board of market produce, glossy courgettes, crimson peppers, golden lemons, olive branches, spoke of a kitchen rooted in the season and the soil.

Caroline and Ezer toasted the evening with Aperol Spritz in hand, her lace floral gown catching the breeze, his ivory suit and navy pocket square effortlessly precise. As dusk settled and the château of Gordes glowed against a sky of fading rose and powder blue, the party moved under a canopy of wild vines and warm Edison bulbs, looser, more joyful, full of motion and laughter. It was, in every sense, the most perfect beginning.

La Bastide de Gordes : The Wedding

If the first evening was an overture, the wedding day at La Bastide de Gordes was the full symphony. Set against the panoramic grandeur of the Luberon valley, a sweeping canvas of olive groves, cypress spires, and ancient stone, every detail of the day felt orchestrated with quiet, confident precision.Morning light filtered softly through the shuttered windows of the hotel’s richly appointed suites as preparations began. In a room of layered paisley fabrics and warm wood paneling, Caroline stood at the window, her cathedral-length veil cascading in intricate lace across the parquet floor, a portrait of stillness before the celebration ahead. Nearby, her bridal bouquet waited: an opulent arrangement of white calla lilies, ranunculus, anemones, and lisianthus, architectural yet utterly feminine, tied together by stems of deepest green.

In the adjacent suite, the groom readied himself in a black velvet tuxedo with a silk bow tie, his profile caught in profile against the afternoon light, all quiet anticipation and elegant composure. The men raised etched crystal tumblers in a private moment of celebration before the ceremony, a scene rendered all the more cinematic in black and white.

The ceremony and reception unfolded in the manicured grounds of La Bastide de Gordes, a property that requires little embellishment, its stone archways, clipped box hedges, infinity pool, and uninterrupted views over the valley doing the work of a thousand decorators. Under the arched colonnades of honey-colored stone, the newlyweds raised their coupes during the toasts, Caroline’s head thrown back in laughter, Ezer beaming beside her, two people fully, joyfully present. As the golden hour descended and the sky above Gordes shifted from soft blue to warm amber, the couple walked together through the terraced gardens, her dress trailing behind, the village skyline of cypress trees and ancient stone silhouetted against the last light. She glanced back over her shoulder, a smile that held everything. That image, more than any other, said it all.

Dinner, Dancing & a Night to Remember

As the sun disappeared behind the rooftops of Gordes and the sky deepened into a bruised, beautiful blue, La Bastide de Gordes transformed entirely. Seen from above, the property glowed like something from a dream — a single long table stretching across the lower garden, lit by fairy lights and flanked by ivy-covered stone arches, the ancient village rising behind it in tiers of warm golden light. It was, quite simply, one of the most beautiful dinner settings I have ever photographed.

Then the evening shifted, and the party truly began. Inside the vaulted ballroom of the hotel, with its exposed wooden beams, iron chandeliers and warm amber uplighting, the DJ took over completely. The dance floor filled instantly. Champagne flowed, poured with effortless precision by the hotel’s impeccably dressed service team, and Caroline, now in a second look of fluid ivory silk, moved through it all with total joy. Their first dance was electric: she twirled, he spun her, the dress caught the light, and the entire room leaned in. Later, surrounded by her closest girlfriends on the lawn in the last of the golden hour, Caroline radiated something beyond happiness, a kind of deep, settled contentment that is rare and beautiful to witness.

By the time the night was truly dark and the music was at its loudest, there was nothing left to wish for. Caroline and Ezer had given their guests two days of pure, generous, luminous celebration and in every frame from that evening, you can feel it: this was a night nobody wanted to end.
